History of Rio Rancho – Rio Rancho Homes for Sale

About Rio Rancho
One can trace the modern history of Rio Rancho back to the 1960’s when real estate developer Amrep purchased over 50,000 acres of desert land northwest of Albuquerque. They were successful at selling 77,000 lots to 40,000 buyers in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Rio Rancho was eventually incorporated as a city in 1981 with just a little over 10,000 residents. Over the last 30 years, the population has grown to close to 100,000 residents.
