Public Swimming Pools in Rio Rancho
How Long is the Swimming Season in the Greater Albuquerque Area?
Most people will open their pools around the end of May and keep them open until the middle of September. Susan and I enjoy our pool temperature to be 82 degrees so we invested in a gas heater for our swimming pool. This allows us to get a longer swimming season. We start swimming the last week of March and typically will close it up for the season in the middle of October.
What are Maintenance Costs for a Swimming Pool?
What we have found is that this really depends on the individual pool type, its placement, the equipment and whether it is covered or not. For our pool, we invested in good quality filtering equipment and opted to get a cover that almost completely seals off the pool when not in use. Having the cover serves 4 purposes: 1. it helps the water from evaporating – reducing the water expense. 2. it helps keep the pool chemicals last longer and stay in balance – reducing the chemical expense. 3. It helps keep debris out of the pool – reducing the cleaning time. 4. helps provide safety around the pool – helps prevent people from falling in.
When we had a pool in California, we had undersized filtering equipment, no cover and a very large tree would drop tons of leaves into the pool. This was a much more expensive pool to maintain.
Because there are so many factors that influence the maintenance cost, it is a great thing to discuss with your pool professional to see what is correct for you to minimize your expense.
Is Having a Pool Worth It?
We love having our pool and can’t imagine not having one. It has become part of our lifestyle. We use it for relaxing, for having swimming pool parties and for exercising. Swimming pools are an expensive investment. Not only is it the cost of building one, but it becomes a real focal point in your yard. It is always good to think hard on how it will be used with your family as it is an expensive addition to a home. But if it becomes part of your “lifestyle” like it has for us, it will be something you can enjoy for years.
